Archeology: Contact With Mr. Sture Brolin
Archeology: Contact With Mr. Sture Brolin
I have found the man who repaired this car after it’s accident in 1958, Mr. Sture Brolin!
I hadn’t thought of finding him before but when we are now restoring the chassis of the car I just had to see if I could find him. Sure enough Mr Brolin still lives in in the same house, next dore to where Mr. Lindblom used to live.
Mr. Brolin, now in his eighties, still remembers the DS and told me the story from his own perspective:
At the time Sture Brolin had a car workshop, servicing and repairing cars of all brands. With his mechanical skills he also used to help his next door neighbor, the inventor Julius Linblom with his various projects.
One of Mr. Brolins customers was Mr. Tore Gidlund who used to get his Citroëns serviced in the workshop.
In 1958 Lindblom was actively looking for a Citroën DS for his active suspension invenstions and when Gidlund had an accident with this car, Brolin helped Lindblom purchase the wounded DS19 from the insurance company.
Brolin still remembers the extensive surgery to the car, some of the parts had to be ordered from Paris, some he made him self.
Brolin also remembers all the work he did on building the intricate prototype suspension system for the DS...

Short after repairing the DS Mr. Brolin changed his company from a car repair workshop to a factory producing mailboxes for the Swedish mail...
Many thanks to Sture Brolin, a humble and kind gentleman, for another interesting part of the puzzle!
